Scott R. Bennett was born in Michigan in 1955, and moved to northern California in 1969. Mr. Bennett began his college career as a student athlete, ultimately transferring to Brigham Young University in 1975. In 1978, he went on sabbatical for two years while he lived in the Canadian province of Quebec. Returning to Brigham Young University in 1980, Mr. Bennett graduated with a B.A. degree in Political Science with a minor in French in 1981. He graduated from the Brigham Young University School of Law in 1984.
Mr. Bennett commenced with the law firm of Senneff, Bernheim, Emery & Kelly, in Santa Rosa in 1984, where his primary area of practice was in representing defendants in civil litigation. In 1988, he left Santa Rosa to become a partner in Wells, Call, Clark, Bennett & Clawson, where he began representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases.
Mr. Bennett was admitted to the California Bar in 1984, as well as the U.S. Federal District Courts in northern California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Solano County Bar Association, the State Bar of California, and Consumer Attorneys of California. Mr. Bennett speaks French in addition to his native English.
